Growth and Expansion

The initial plan for Phase II on Cistern Cay has three steps:

  1. Contact owners (if locatable) of existing lots on Cistern Cay to determine whether Vital Cays Eco Resort can purchase the lots.

  2. Reorganize Cisterns Cays’ small Lots into a form of ownership free from title issues that will make future development possible, manifesting estate sized exclusive properties.

  3. Conduct an economical assessment for reopening the existing runway abiding by government processes for granting authorization of its use.

Bullocks Harbour Cay is the proposed location for a small sustainable farming operation. Food production will be used to provide the resort with fresh produce including employees of the Resort and their families. As expansion occurs, the ultimate goal will be to provide fresh produce to the GHC community. The final decision on the exact location of the farm will be determined upon completion of the study recommendations outlined earlier.

THE SECOND PHASE OF THE PROJECT will expand the Vital Cays Eco Resort from 5 to 15 rooms. The room style, size and amenities will be dictated by the market research gained from the operation of the 5 room resort. In order to take advantage of the infrastructure from Phase I, location of Phase II will be adjacent to Phase I. We believe this will aid in speeding the completion of Phase II construction.

Legacy challenges remain on Cistern Cay as land title, ownership and other issues have been on-going for 50 years. This may ultimately lengthen the time of progress to completion beyond the second phase.
