Combining luxury and environmental awareness
into a unique holiday experience.

The Vision

BLENDING SEAMLESSLY INTO THE BEAUTIFUL surroundings, the vision for The Vital Cays Project is to combine luxury and environmental awareness into a unique experience for all guests and ultimately for homeowners. The Project will use sustainable and eco-friendly materials and methods of construction, initially consisting of 5 luxury rooms overlooking the shallow waters of the Berry Islands and native greenery. The island resort is targeted to appeal to active nature lovers and those who seek a haven for longevity, wellness and rejuvenation.

Guests and ultimately homeowners, will have access to amenities such as kayaking and paddle boarding through miles of mangrove waterways, hiking through over 15 miles of forested trails, private boating, yoga in a treehouse, mountain biking, private hideaway beaches and on smaller adjacent islands, e-foil boarding, fly fishing, snorkeling, guided meditation, healthy eating and cooking classes, and more.

The Project aims to enhance the beauty of the Cays by enriching the natural flora and fauna with new native plantings and removal of invasive species. The development process will assess the best locations and employ the least obtrusive way to integrate buildings into the natural landscape. This will be achieved by implementing low density design concepts and a clustered footprint.

The benefits of these methods include:

• Allowing our guests to experience the natural beauty of the Cays and their surrounding eco system.
• Avoiding large scale denuding of the construction area.
• Removing the least amount of natural vegetation for the planned infrastructure.
• Sustainable buildings that are designed and constructed of materials to withstand the harsh elements such as hurricanes and storm surges.
• Encouragement of local entrepreneurs to provide tour services.

Matt O’Hayer, the Principal of this Project, is a serial entrepreneur, an avid hiker, boater, and pilot. Hiking in different locations around the world, Matt brings the same philosophy of treading lightly and leaving no trace to the pristine land. These islands will be treated like a natural treasure and developed in the same manner. Some of the planned measures this Project will utilize are:

• Private eco-friendly luxury accommodations.
• Efficient and silent solar designs.
• Sustainable farming.
• Holistic understanding for staff and guests to respect the environment.
• Local community involvement
.
